Sketchy Thursdays 3.31 Sketch

This is my last week as the Sketchy Thursday's March guest designer. Which means next week I will be an official member of the ST DT!!! Woo hoo! That is the best news to me!

But here it today's sketch.

And here is my take.

And a close up or two...

Lots of stitching...

I had this page laying on the island in my kitchen. My oldest saw it and asked me if I did the page. Yes... I am the lone scrapbooker in the house. Then she says, "wow, I really like this one!" I wanted to ask her if she didn't like the others?

Sketchy Thursdays 3.24 Sketch

Have I mentioned how much I love Sketchy Thursdays? Sketches are just so great...

Anyway, I have been working diligently in my photography class. I am starting to get the hang of my camera pretty well in full manual mode, which is great. Now I am really paying attention to the lighting at different times during the day. I took these around 5:30 on a Sunday evening after we had spent an incredible day outside! The weather has been so nice! DD#2 was on the swing set with her bff and I just didn't want to miss the incredible light from the sun that was setting but was soft and not real yellow. So even though the trapeze bar was in the picture, I still captured her pretty face.

Here is my take on it. I did love the stars and really could not substitute them with anything else!

And a couple of closeups...

Make sure you head over to Sketchy Thursdays and play along!

Better Living Through Scrapbooking Challenge #2

Better Living Through Scrapbooking's 2nd March challenge was an easy one for me. It was a low tech layout. No die cutting machines, just scissors or punches. Easy! I have a Slice, but I do not use it all that much. I have a hard time with shapes and I just love Thickers too much to give them up for paper letters. So anyway...

My page...

I cut out some paper dolls (a challenge criteria) and used it as an embellishment.

And I really love these wood hearts from Studio Calico...

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you head over to Better Living Through Scrapbooking and get all the details for the 2nd March challenge!

Sketchy Thursdays April Guest Sketch

The April guest designer call is on over at Sketchy Thursdays. Well, actually today is the last day. I really do not have any expectations of getting it again, but I love the sketch and had an idea for it, so I had to go with it, right? March has been so much fun with Sketchy Thursdays! It is one of my favorite places to play so it only seems right to play with this one as well!

So here is the sketch...

And here is my take on it! An added requirement was to use spring colors.

And some close ups. I used my sewing machine to do a lit of stitching on this layout.

Thanks for stopping by!

Just for me

After talking to a girlfriend yesterday, I decided that I needed to spend my scrappy time last night on a project just for me. I just needed to take a photo that I wanted to scrap and just do it. No guidelines, no supply lists, no theme, just something for me. The last couple of weeks have really been filled with projects for other places, which I have really enjoyed so don't get me wrong! But it was fun to throw a layout in there that was just a layout.

So here it is...

I took the photo over the weekend and when I was looking at it last night I realized this little girl was growing up way too fast. She doesn't even look like a little girl to me anymore! The time is flying by and I seem o be barely keeping up. Thank goodness for scrapbooking! At least I can look back at them when they were small!

Sketchy Thursdays 3.17 Sketch

Okay, so I love this week's Sketchy Thursdays sketch. It is so easy to use!

I immediately knew what photos I wanted to use of baby girl. I have been hoarding them for just the right page. And here it is!

She makes the best faces. Thank goodness for DSLR cameras! I would never get so many different faces if I didn't have the ability to keep clicking away!

Thanks for stopping by!!

A Scraptastic Challenge Week #2

Over at A Scraptastic Challenge I posted a challenge to lift yourself. I found an older layout and used it as inspiration.

Here was the inspiration. It was one of the first layouts I did. Probably within the first two months of my starting to scrapbook.

And here is the new layout.

I used some of the Twig line. I only have three sheets of the paper and none of the embellishments. I bought them on a whim at Archivers one day because I just really loved the colors. I wish I bought the whole line though because now they are out of it. Bummer. But it was perfect here to really help go with the awesome blue of DD#2's eyes.

Sketchy Thursdays 3.10 Sketch

So week two as a guest designer for Sketchy Thursdays, they had a great two pager.

Now I am not a great one for a two pager. Typically I do not have enough photos even for a two pager and I definitely do not have the attention span for a two pager. So, I just used the first half for my layout. I also rotated it. I love sketches for this type of flexibility!

Make sure to head over to Sketchy Thursdays and try this one out!

An SNR April sneak (and challenge call)

April SNR pages are being finished and sent in by me. Yesterday I finished one that I am really happy with. I can't show it off here yet, but I can give a small sneak of it. This sneak is of an element I made with a particular challenge in mind. Over at A Scraptastic Challenge, the first challenge was to use a homemade embellishment. So I did! I made a flower out of a zipper! I can't wait for these little things to hit the market after someone revealed them at CHA, so I decided to make one for myself!

I wish I could show the entire layout, but oh well. And the weather here is BAD, so the photo had to be taken inside. Never good for lighting. But thanks for looking anyway!

Better Living 1st March Challenge

Well, the first March challenge is posted over on Better Living Through Scrapbooking. It was hard for me because the challenge is to scrap something that didn't go as planned, an unwelcomed interruption, or a run of the mill bad day. I don't want to remember these times usually. So I struggled coming up with something.

While flipping through my photos, I found this one of baby girl. She is usually happy and smiling. She giggles all the time. This day something was really wrong. I do not remember what it was, if I even knew. She was just having a bad day.

I tried to put myself in her tiny shoes and come up with the reasons for her sadness. It could be one of so many different things. A bad hair day. A bad dream. A mean sister. She didn't get her way. She lost her doll. She skinned her knee. I told her no. It wasn't fair. Boredom, tiredness, hunger. Whatever it was, it made the poor girl sad.

Head on over to Better Living Through Scrapbooking for a chance for a great prize!
