A wonderful 3 day weekend

Tuesday is rolling to a close and I am sitting here remembering the wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Thank you to all those who serve our country! Thank you.

The weekend was just great. First born was gone with friends for the weekend, so just the two little girls here. They decided it would be fun to be twins.

Dad got his father's day gift a little early. It was a big new smoker. (The old one rusted out.) So, of course, we had to have a smoked salmon for dinner! Like buttah!

But even better than that was eating al fresco. The girls said it was like eating at a fancy restaurant.

Then there was pool time with gramma. Look at these freckles! I love how the POP in the sun.

Then Monday was more meat on the smoker (oh the carnage), some Pioneer Woman onion straws (yes, they really are AWESOME!)

and Ikea.

What an incredible weekend!

A fun night and Elle's Studio sketch

Last night I had a blast with my scrapping buddies. We headed over to Archivers for a Friday night crop. What a great night full of laughs and talking and scrapbooking. The only problem with scrapping at Archivers is the money I spend while I am there! I guess they would think that was the point though. Last night I bought this...

I don't really know what I am going to do with it yet, but it is just so cute, how could I resist? And yes, I bought an extra pen. In my giddy brain last night I was sure I was going to use up my first one so fast that I had to get a second. I am crazy. Even worse, I convinced my new friend Desiree that she needed one too. She was an easy sell though since all I did was point her in the direction of the cute Smash video and she was buying. And then after showing them to Desiree, Karen's spark for the Smash journal was rekindled and well, she bought one too. Yikes!

I also met a scrapbooking celebrity last night!!! Well, he is a celebrity to me! Eric Erickson. I follow his blog. I love him! And after acting like a total idiot in front of my friends (as though it was Tim Holtz scrapping with us) I said hello, shook his hand and tried to not act like an idiot, although I am pretty sure I did. Seriously, this guy is awesome and I was ready to take him home. What a great night!

But I did a little scrapbooking too! I worked on the Elle's Studio sketch from 5.26. It was a little harder for me because of all the pictures and the two different halves. Plus, I did not finish it last night with all the talking and not being at home, so once I went back to it today, I had sort of lost my mojo. But here it is...

These pictures are making me crave some strawberries. Luckily there are some in my fridge right now! Ummm... I am off for some. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Sketchy Thursdays 5.26

I love this new sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. As soon as I saw knew it would be perfect! Here is the sketch.

And here is my take on it.

These pictures of DD#2 just make me smile. She is my supermodel in the making and she sort of knows I think this. She loves to pose! This day, all of her pictures were serious like these. Usually she is all toothless grins but this day she was full of emotion, luckily not emotional though. :-)

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you get your layouts posted by Wednesday, June 1st for a chance at the prize!

Elle's Studio Sketch 5.19

I don't know if you are a fan of Elle's Studio on Facebook, but on this past Thursday they linked a post on their blog about a new feature they are having, a weekly sketch! How perfect! I love working with sketches! And as soon as I saw this one, I knew what I was going to do.

Here is my take on Elle's Studio 5.19 sketch.

I used my new Lawn Party kit from Studio Calico.

Ahhh, scrapbooking is just so much fun!

A Pretty Picture

I spend so much time with Baby Girl and I truly do love it. She only goes to preschool so it is 4 half days a week that she is occupied, but that leaves a lot of time for the two of us to dork around without her big sisters. I never really imagined that I would treasure that time we have alone together. But as summer is quickly approaching, I am a realizing that for the summer, this time will soon be to an end. Thankfully, we have one more year of preschool (yay, to redshirting her for K!) so even though she will have preschool five days a week instead of four, we will still have time together each day to hang, just us.

So this schedule change has been on my mind lately, so I made a page for her! She is just so sweet. And I just love those gappy teeth!

I used a sketch I found on the October Afternoon blog.

Well, now I am off to get my other girls from school. The days past so fast!

5.19 Sketchy Thursdays

I really love the new sketch from Sketchy Thursdays this week. It is simple and fun.

I have a ton of pictures left from the destination photo shoot I forced the girls to go on and this one was so perfect for this sketch. Here is my take.

I LOVE this picture! I wish that all the girls were in the picture though. But dear first born was off at this moment, showing her Grands where we had gone geocaching. A couple of minutes after I took this picture though, she was screaming and running towards us after finding a snake in the place were the cache had been. Oh well. At the time it was pretty funny. And what I have left of it was a picture without her in it. Crazy.

Anyway, head on over to Sketchy Thursdays and get your pages posted for a chance at the awesome prize!

5.12 Sketchy Thursdays

Yay! Another Thursday! Another sketch! Did you see all the great design team inspiration for this one? It is amazing! Those ladies are so inspiring to me!

The new Sketchy Thursdays sketch...

So after my last (and only) disastrous attempt at a two pager, I decided that I would stick to a one pager this time around. I used the left side of the sketch for my page and tried to stick pretty close to the sketch so you could see I did use it!

I do not usually have pictures of myself, let alone scrapbook them, but these pics of me a hubby were taken by DD#2 on one of our photo shoot adventures and I really love them. These pics are definitely ones I want to keep and remember. Here are some close ups of my page.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to get your pages loaded over at Sketchy Thursdays for a chance at the awesome prize!

An Original

My baby sister is an artist. She is so talented. I am totally envious of this talent too, but in a good way. I have a couple of pieces of her work, a sketch she did of baby girl when she was just a baby girl and a painting of DD#2 that I stole from my moms. Luckily my sis hasn't yelled at me for taking it. Hee hee!

She's in college, so it is not as though she has had a bunch of extra time for painting for people. Most of what she does is for classes, but I was lucky enough to score a KG original! Woo hoo! She actually painted it for us, but it was able to be for one of her classes too. It was delivered this weekend. (Happy Mother's Day to me!) And it is so gorgeous that I really must share it here!

This fits inside this cut out thing we have above our fireplace. The painting is BIG, 36 x 48 and the colors are simply incredible! I am so honored to be able to display this in my home! Thanks KG!!

I know, the same photos...

But they were my FAVORITE of her! They really capture her personality! So I wanted to try another layout that really is her too!

Ok, I won't do any more layouts with these pics. I did print one out and put it in a frame on the mantel though. Hee hee.
