School pictures are becoming...

as frequent as beach pictures! LOL. I guess that is just where we are right now. Our life rotates around school. (The beach pictures is my wishing what my life rotated around. LOL.)

Little Yellow Bicycle's Makin' the Grade line is fun for all these school pics. I love very school themed embellishments. My girl picked out all her favorite things and I incorporated them into the gridded school layout about her.

I love how she looks bored with me taking her picture. Ha!

Have a great Thursday! Thanks for stopping by!

Operation Write Home

Have you heard of Operation Write Home? It is a nonprofit organization that supports our armed forces by collecting and sending blank homemade greeting cards for our soldiers to use. Totally cool thing.

So I am not typically a card maker, but how could I not be a part of this! With SRM Stickers to provide my sentiment (because stamping sentiments is really a weak spot for me) I was able to get this birthday themed card ready to send.

Anyway, consider checking out Operation Write Home and seeing what you can do to help out!

October sneaks for JBS

It is time everyone for a little sneak of what is coming on October 1st from the newest Jenni Bowlin kits!! These kits are so soft and warm and beautiful. I love the colors and patterns. Perfect.

Wanna see??

All the paints used on this are Jenni Bowlin paint dabbers. They do not come in the kit, I had them in my stash. But the main kit only challenge is to use some paints so I busted out lots of colors and attempted to make a beachy, sunset like background. I mixed the colors with a little gesso to soften them a little. I am no painter (and thank goodness my very artistic sister doesn't follow my blog) but I am please with how it all came out.

There are a couple of other sneaks over on the blog right now to see more of the incredible kits. And the full reveal will be at midnight on the 1st!!!

Thanks for looking and thanks for stopping by!

Resistables and Mists

The new Resistable collection from Pink Paislee is a fun way to get really creative with your scrapbooking. And to couple these new papers with the new Heidi Swapp Color Shine mists takes it to a new level of awesomeness. I am typically not a fan of the glittery mists, but I really love these Heidi Swapp ones. Especially the mustard. LOVE it!

Anyway... I teamed these two products up for a couple of fun 8x8 pages with two distinct looks. The first I made for my teenager, complete with a drippy rainbow background and a funky iPhone picture.

Totally fun.

The next was for my 6 year old. She is watching her big sister play soccer and probably wishing she was playing too.

Two very different looks but all the same products. And equally exciting to make. I want to encourage you to play and try out something messy. I love it!

Thanks for stopping by!

The new AC Design Team

This month, American Crafts is introducing the new design team. I love reading the bios of everyone. The team is a cool mix of returning and new designers and I think it is really looking great. Anyway, my intro was on Tuesday. Not much changed. But I do have a couple of pages to show.

Yep, that is me. I think I used this photo after listening to Shimelle talk about scrapbooking older photos on PRT. She totally inspired me. And yes, I made a digital copy of the photo first and then used the original. I got that idea from Shimelle too.

I noticed that this year was a big change year as far as whining goes at big sister's sporting events. This little girl use to be able to last no more than an hour at a meet or game before melting down. Well, this year she lasts the entire time! That has been as long as 4 hours. She is definitely being a god sport this year. Thanks goodness because it seems crazier than ever!

If you want to see the supply lists or you want to meet the rest of the team head on over to the American Crafts blog!

Happy Thursday! Thanks for stopping by!

Week 3

It looks like I will be making a page a week with those dailies of my youngest. LOL. I did not plan it this way, but it is definitely working out. This week I was assigned to use Little Yellow Bicycle's Making the Grade line, and well, what better photos then the Week 3?

Yes, I only have 4 photos. It was a 5 day week but here is what happened. I was in California for Thursday and Friday of that week. Thursday's picture was taken, but Friday's was not. I am sure in the bustle of the morning rush my inlaws felt a little overwhelmed. All is good.

These cork letters are so COOL! I wish I had a whole alpha out of them!

I love this cork board paper. It is a 12x12 sheet though. So I cut it down to 8.5x11 because a double page spread with 12x12 paper is too much for me, and I reattached the edges to keep the look of the cork board.

Doing these weekly pages has me rethinking my albums right now though. Currently all my newest pages are in a couple of piles on my table. But that is because I am out of album space and it will be corrected. :-) But what I normally do it just shove them in the album. They are in order of when I create them and that is about it as far as organizing goes. But I think I need to start doing them by child. I am going to do this going forward, but going backwards is daunting!! Anyone out there ever decide and take action on changing up your albums??? Advice? Tips? Horror stories you want to share??

Well, have a great Wednesday everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

The September Jenni Bowlin kits are WONDERFUL! The colors are so awesome and can be used for just about any picture. I heard that all but the main papercrafting kit are sold out, but seriously, don't miss out on that one. You will love it.

The gallery for September is now live. The projects are gorgeous. Here are mine.

I helped pull together the mini album kit for this month.

Here is a page from the main kit only.

And these are combinations of the main kit and the artisan kit.

And did you notice the exclusive stencil??

Lot of fun stuff. I hope you have the chance to see all the other projects in the gallery. It is worth it!

My favorite product

My favorite product, hands down, is Thickers. I love them. I try to collect them, but seriously, I use them all so none of them stays around too long. I have a Cameo that I can cut letters out on, but Thickers are still my favorite way to add a title.

Did you know Thickers are one of the very first scrapbook items I ever purchased? Yep. Blue ones from Hobby Lobby. It was the first time I ever made a scrapbook page - about 3 years ago now and I went to the store with an idea in mind, bought 4 different sheets of single sided patterned paper, Thickers and some school stickers. Yep, it was a back to school page. Crazy! But I have loved Thickers since.

How many different Thickers can be on one page?

Well, six different types is definitely a possibility.

How many colors?

Well, how many letters are in your sentiment?

Thickers rock!!

Okay, so what is your favorite product??? Tell, tell!

Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great weekend!

The daily photo

I decided that this year I would take a picture of my youngest every morning before school. I had big plans or dreams of doing something really spectacular with these pics, like a 180 days book (an idea I got from Stacey Julian). But after a real conversation with myself, I decided just the pictures for now would be a good goal.

So far, I have a picture of her every day. Once I forgot to take in the morning, so I took it when she got home. Two were taken by my teenager while I was outta town on a belated anniversary trip with dear hubby. But I have every day so far. Pretty good for me since it is the 4th week of school.

The pictures are so funny to me. She likes to make different faces and have different hairstyles. It is so her! Anyway... Allison from Hambly, remember Hambly? Well, she emailed me and asked if I wanted to make something with her me Everyday Eclectic line for the Echo Park blog. Uh, yeah!! I LOVE this line and actually had it in my online shopping cart and I already had a plan to use it for some of these daily headshots of my girl! Perfect!

Here is her first week of school...

I love this ray look. The first time I used it was for Sketchy Thursdays and it is a look I now go back to all the time. It is just so much fun! And Allison's line is so colorful. It's great.

What will I do with all these daily photos? Well, maybe I will do a page each week for her. Maybe not. I am thinking I will put them together by month in a collage and make monthly 12x12 print with them. Something fun and actually IN my album. Right?

Wow this week is really flying by. Have a great Thursday! Thanks for stopping by!

2011-2012 American Crafts DT Farewell Blog Hop

The first year on American Crafts is coming to an end. Sniff. Sniff. It has been such an amazing year!! I have loved every second of being on this team and I am so thankful that I get to return again for 2012-2013. But I will really miss working with so many of these amazingly creative and talented ladies.

So for a farewell, we are having this hop! You came from Michelle's. If not, you can always start at the beginning over at American Crafts and then move through. Or you can circle back there from here. Either way. :-)

But as part of the hop, we just wanted to show you some of our favorite projects over the year. This one was my first AC project. I love this one.

This is one of my favorites. That Chap line just rocked.

Oh, and this one of my new 8 year old from last fall.

I was so proud of my clock...

And this page really reminds me of a fun "photoshoot" my youngest wanted to have in her pjs.

There are just so many fun pages!!

Well, that was enough of my trip down memory lane for now. I am focusing on the year ahead! And thanks for stopping by here! The next stop on this hop is over to the talented Leslie Ashe.

But before you go, I want to give a chance at a prize. Don't you want one?? So, I am giving away a $15 gift card to Two Peas in a Bucket so you can go stock up on some American Crafts awesomeness! Leave a comment and you will be entered to win. I will randomly draw a winner on Friday, September 7th and will announce it on Saturday the 8th. Good?

Thanks for the memories. And here is me looking forward to another awesome year!

Thanks for stopping by!
