They are such good sports...

My girls, that is.  Here is why...

I was driving home one morning after dropping them off at school and I noticed how simply INCREDIBLE the sunrise was that day.  Beautiful!  Well, I drove all around my area looking for spots where I could see this without trees and power lines and such in the middle.  I thought I had found a couple of places that were cool, so that afternoon, I asked my oldest if she would be in the mood for a early morning sunrise photo shoot on Sunday.  OF COURSE, she says.

So Sunday morning we journeyed out and guess what, every one of the places I had scoped out was not good.  Either we could be arrested for being there too early or shot at because they were still hunting grounds before 10 am or there were chain link fences running through her head in the pics.  Not good.  Eventually we ended up in a vacant lot near our neighborhood.  We missed the sunrise but I got a couple of shots of her anyway.

I love this because she was laughing with me.  She wasn't mad or annoyed at my bad planning.  She just thought we were having a fun adventure.  Thank goodness!

So this weekend I have a sunrise chasing adventure planned with my second daughter.  We'll see how that one goes.  I have new locations planned, so my fingers are crossed!

For this page, I used a combination of the new Yes, Please line by Amy Tangerine and American Crafts and Lucky Charm by Dear Lizzy and American Crafts.

Have a great day everyone!  Thanks for stopping by!

Using my Cameo and American Crafts

I admitted not too long ago that my Cameo sat in the box for four months after I purchased it.  Yes, it is true.  I was not sure I really would use it.  I was definitely intimidated by what everyone else could do with it.  And I did not feel like I had the time to learn something new.  So it sat in the box in the hall outside my scrapbook area for four months.  I finally broke it out because my sweet husband seemed insulted that it was still unused.

So now it is out and I use it often enough.  Usually words and title help, but that i really what I wanted it for.  And I'll tell you, it has been a lifesaver for me.  Who knew, not everyone wants Thickers on their pages!?!?!

Speaking on Thickers, I was asked to use my Cameo and some American Crafts cut files to create a couple of pages.  Here they are...

Even better, I could use my Cameo and Thickers!  Yay!!!

Have a great day!  Thanks for stopping by.

Gardeners' Digest: January Garden Girl Blog Hop

UPDATED WITH A WINNER!!!
Sparklin Come on down!!!  You are my winner for the card class by Julie Campbell!!  Woot Woot!

Welcome to the Gardeners' Digest, a monthly update from the Garden Girls, the design team at Two Peas in a Bucket. We'd love it if you'd visit each of our blogs today to see what's in bloom in the Garden this month.

For February, love is in the air and I have pulled together some of my favorite American Crafts and Crate Paper Valentine's lines and hearts from Studio Calico and Pink Paislee for a special little page for my own Valentine.

I love browsing the gallery.  There is so much amazing stuff!  Here are a few recent projects that have really caught my eye.

From the top left and moving clockwise... 1. By Monika Glod.  I love that she used pink on a page about her boys.  2. By wendymorris.  I really think she has mastered the art of sprinkled bits and pieces.  3. From michellerose.  I love a heart and the simplicity of the stitched heart just really called to me.  4. From sarahsjb.  Okay, two of my favorite things.  A rainbow and the rays.  LOVE it!  5. From Paige, fellow Garden Girl.  I think she does the most amazing work with her Cameo!  6. By biochemipea.  Wow, wow, wow.  I love this heart and color combo.  Just awesome.

1.  I love anything wood veneer, but these arrows by Freckled Fawn take the cake!  They are so cute!!! I am so glad they are back in stock!!
2.  I just got these stitched labels from Crate's Fourteen collection.  They are so simple and adorable.

3.  Oh my goodness, these little enamel dots are so great!  I think I have all the different possible color combos.  They just always seem to be an easy embellishment to add!

4.  This sheet of paper from Crate's Fourteen collection is amazing.  I love the colors, the chevron and side B.  I cannot cut it though, so I am going to have to buy an second sheet to play with.

5.  Pink chevron tape from Bella Blvd. Yes!  I have used it about on everything lately and have even found my girls trying to snag it!

Thanks for hopping everyone!  As a thanks, I would like to offer up a seat to one person in Julie Campbell's Journey into Cardmaking class.

The cross country album

At the cross country banquet this past fall, the senior runners were presented with scrapbooks of their cross country careers at the school.  It was really cool.  Some of the kids had been running for 7 years so they had these big hug books!  The moms that made them told us that they had made all the books in a weekend.  WHAT?!?!?  One weekend?!?!  SEVEN albums!  And some were for as many as SEVEN years?

Knowing myself, I know for a fact that there is no way I would be able to make a book for my daughter in a weekend that spanned the 4 years she will be in high school.  Not happening.  So I decided I needed to start on this album now, so at least I will only be working on the last few pages that weekend they get together to make the books.

So here we go.  The first page of her cross country album...

This was from the region meet.  The meet the girls had been training for all season long.  They wrote K.T.D. on the backs of their legs which stood for a chant they had come up with over the summer and was like their good luck charm.

I used SRM Cross Country stickers on this.

Of course I added some mist and sequins (my new favorite thing).  And I love the star glitter.

The journaling is hidden on a tag in one of the SRM glassine bags behind the photo.

I guess I need to keep going with the album.  One page isn't going to be enough of a head start!

Have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

This month...

So far, this month has really been kicking my butt.  It has just been so busy!  I know when I first planned out my month it was not this packed, but I sure did forget about that and piled a bunch of stuff on.  Thankfully it looks like I will get a few days of it slowing down so I can catch my breath.  I need it.

I was able to jot down my thought for my "me" page from January 8th and I know it is well past the 8th, but I still want to share it.

Sorry, no close ups.  But I'll read it to you...
  • really, really tired.  This is from my psycho packed schedule and the late nights to get it all in.  What was I thinking??
  • waiting to start a class.  I was sitting in the parking lot outside the building where I was going to take a photography class.  I got there early so I was able to do this list.
  • wanting a routine.  I have not been able to tack down my routine since the end of Christmas break.  I still feel like I am all over the place and I need some structure.  Need it!!
  • inspired with a new idea.  I love moments like this.  Yes, I have a new idea and I cannot wait to get started on it.  It is a photo project but I am sure it will creep into scrapbooking too.  But I know it will be awesome!
  • wondering how others can do it.  This is me comparing myself to others.  Comparing myself to others I do not really even know.  I "see" them being able to do it all and want to know why I can't!!  But in all fairness, I really don't know what all they are doing verses not, and they are not my friends and I know better than to compare, so I need to get over this.
  • struggling with where to start.  You know when your to-do list is longer than life and there is so much that has an ASAP next to it and there really is NOT enough time to do it all that you get so overwhelmed that WHERE TO START is the hardest question of answer?  Yep, that was me.  Thank goodness I eventually just picked something and got going!
  • thinking it's too much.  Just more ponderings about the load.  I am moving on now.
  • ignoring the messy house.  When I am swamped, it is usually the first thing I give up on.  But I decided my "spring cleaning" will happen the last week on January, so if I can pick up enough to not go nuts, I can hold off until then.
Busy, busy, busy.  The story of our lives, right?  Lol.

Have a great Thursday!  And thanks for stopping by.

Evalicious Internet Slang

Today is the first time I am up over at Evalicious!  Eve creates the cutest badges, tags and stamps.  I was combing through the different badges and ran across the Internet Slang Badges.  OMG (LOL) these are awesome!!  They totally remind me of my teenager and how she can have an entire conversation via text using these words (can I call them words?).  Anyway...  Totally Teen...

So fun.  And when she saw the page, she told me how much she loved it!  I guess I got it right for her, huh?

But check out Evalicious.  Her newest release is up in the shop and it so super cute.  Plus there is a Flickr pool that you can see all sorts of Evalicious inspiration and even add your own stuff to!

Happy Wednesday!!  And thanks for stopping by!

My first 213 in 2013

Yesterday, my very first video for the Two Peas in a Bucket series 213 in 2013 went live!  I was so excited!  I love the page and although I am definitely still learning the whole making a video process, I feel like it is pretty cool.  (My next one will definitely have some kinks worked out.)

Anyway, here is my page and if you feel like seeing how it was made and the challenges for this week, check out my video!

Have a great Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Jenni Bowlin Die-Cut Files

A little truth here, the first time I tried to use the Jenni Bowlin cut files was a big flop for me.  I did not know what I was doing at all.  I could not figure it out and I wasted a lot of time and messed up a bit of paper in the process.  Thank goodness Betsy was there to help out and show me how EASY it was.  She is the best!

Anyway, this month over at JBS we are showing projects using some of our favorite die-cut files.  Here is mine.

I love this shape and it was really fun to create a layout with this type of "grid".

Plus, have you all seen all the FABULOUS stuff Jenni is releasing??  Shimelle has a great review over on her blog.  Seriously, the stuff is amazing.  I love Lisa Dickinson's new line.

Well, have a great Monday!  And thanks for stopping by!

Jenni Bowlin January Gallery

So January is FLYING by!!!  It is nuts!  I am swamped and hopefully I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  Hopefully.

But it is time for my gallery over at JBS Mercantile with the most awesome January kits!!  I totally love these kits.  The pinks are my favorite!!!  And I think the exclusive papers designed by the amazing Lisa are adorable.  Here are my pages.

And you know what??  All of these are really Christmas pages!  Who says you need red and green for that??  And who says you have to use red and pink for Valentines??  Not me!

And did you see this??

This is only good for the month of January so you will want to jump on it.  Not to mention, these kits are fabulous and a little birdie told me they were almost gone, so don't miss out.

Have a great Friday all!  I get to scrapbook with friends tonight, so I am super excited!  Thanks for stopping by!

To get an idea, here is a page I created with them.

I love those heart sequins!!

Happy New Year!!!

It is 2013!!  I cannot believe it but it is true!  It feels like 2012 just started, but here I am at the beginning of a new year.  I am so thankful for the past year and really excited about the future.  There just seems to be so much incredible stuff going on.  Like this big news...

I am super excited to announce that I am a Garden Girl for Two Peas in a Bucket for 2013!!  I am still in shock about the whole thing!!!  The Garden Girl team is so amazing.  So many of my own scrapbook heros are there.  I am floored, honored and feeling very much like a little kid about it.

For January's gallery at Two Peas, we all tackled the topic Everyday/365.  Here is mine...

It is recap of everyday life from 2012 that I captured with my iPhone.  It was really fun to look back on everything we did and everything that happened when I was choosing photos.

But it is time to look forward!  How exciting!!!  Happy New Year all!!

Thanks for stopping by!
